Privacy notice

This explains what information is handled when you use Tax Allowance Checker or email us. In short: you don’t need an account, we don’t ask for your details, we don’t set cookies and we don’t use advertising trackers.

Who we are

Tax Allowance Checker is operated by Ninayra Ltd, registered in Scotland, company number SC858454, registered office Office 2/3, 48 West George Street, Glasgow G2 1BP. Ninayra Ltd is the data controller. Contact: contact@taxallowancechecker.co.uk.

When you visit the site

Hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare. As with any website, delivering a page means your browser’s request, including your IP address, passes through Cloudflare’s servers. We don’t see or keep visitors’ IP addresses ourselves.

Visitor statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and measure how quickly pages load, so we know which guidance people use and can keep it working well. Cloudflare states that this service doesn’t use cookies or local storage to track visitors and doesn’t fingerprint or follow individuals across websites. We only see totals, such as page views per page and visits by country — never individual visitors. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests. If you’d rather not be counted, a content blocker that blocks static.cloudflareinsights.com stops it, and the site works normally without it.

Your saved choice. If you pick an option under “Who are you?” on an allowance page, your browser remembers it, so the next page shows your situation first. It’s stored only in your browser (local storage), holds nothing but that one choice, and is never sent to us. To remove it, tap your selected option again or “Show all”, or clear this site’s data in your browser.

Fonts. The site’s fonts are served from this site, so loading a page doesn’t contact any font provider.

Links to other sites. Pages link to GOV.UK and HMRC guidance, and to The Accountancy Partnership. When you follow our link to The Accountancy Partnership, the link tells them you came from this site and which page you were on, so we can be paid a commission if you sign up. It doesn’t pass on any personal details. Once you’re on another site, its own privacy notice applies.

When you email us

If you email us — for example to report an entry that looks wrong — we receive your email address, any name you give and your message. We use them to reply and to check and correct the entry. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests. Email to our address is forwarded by Cloudflare and held in a Google mailbox. We delete correspondence within 12 months of our last contact.

Where your information is processed

We don’t sell or share your information. Cloudflare and Google may process it outside the UK, including in the United States; where that happens it is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete information we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by emailing contact@taxallowancechecker.co.uk. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
